Love And Need

So, I love the smattering of soft sorbet-like shades in this house. I think that because there is also a good base of black/white/timber it saves it from being too frou frou.

And those lamps suspended from the kitchen ceiling.....LOVE and need to have!

A View

As the days are getting shorter here, I'm trying to hang on to summer with both hands. Sneaking in a swim most nights after work, even though my mind is telling me its too cold, cooking everything I can on the BBQ and searching for the perfect beach house.

This place ticks a lot of boxes from the cerulean blue to the vintage chairs with a view of the sea.

Balance Out

I love the joinery in this home. From the timber cupboards through to that bed platform, it all is perfection.

The floors add to the warmth of wood tones. Which, very cleverly, the owners haven't allowed to overwhelm the look. The injection of colour into the cabinetry and the wall cladding helps balance out the look.

Deft

And to finish off the week with a bit of colour - how stunning is this slice of creative genius? I love the painted finishes this couple have used in their home. Often the term 'painted finish' evokes a skin crawling mental image of terracotta bagged walls in an effort to try and turn a white box into a faux Tuscan villa. But this place definitely avoids that category.

Apart from the stunning colour mixes and deft paint work, I'm seriously loving that old billiard table light used for a long dining table. Great idea.

Personality

This home has personality in spades doesn't it. Such colour, individuality and  life is very charming.

Speaking of colour, I wouldn't half mind a bright red Acapulco in my kitchen {actually I wouldn't mind having the SPACE in my kitchen for a chair - of any kind!}.

Set The Plot

It must be a white week round here. You got the memo?

Here is another stunning example of backdrop allowing a collection of colour and styles be the story.

The rugs in this home set the plot for each room, and the story gets developed beautifully by the v. cool furniture pieces, and is ably supported by injections of colour to round out the whole scene. Great home.

Old Peacock

Seeing this place confirmed my all white approach to the 60's Splendour (not that there's a lot of white, or a lot of anything going on right now while I save for a new roof!).

The open and light feel of this place is the perfect back drop for cool injections of colour. I especially love the vintage upholstered chairs. And love the rickety old peacock even more.
