Epic Vast

When building on a plot with epic vast views, you need a house that will not only sit in those views quietly, but also make sense of them from within.

The scale of this house is perfect, as are the materials. It's no wall flower though, it clearly makes its mark on the landscape but in a very sympathetic way.

The windows are a great feature. All of a magnificent scale, but I like the way the windows in the living room are apertures, they give the feeling of enclosure and protectiveness - like looking out on the view from a protected bunker. But in the kitchen/dining space they almost disappear and give that feeling of openness that suits that use of space so much better. Clever house.

Every Element

What a stunning slice of London this home is. Classic and minimal, two styles that were made to sync.

And this place is a brilliant example of it. From the indoor pool to the opulent drapes in the study, every element is strong, classic and understated in its own way.

Heavy Silk

I love the opulent touches in this home, namely the drapes. They're quite sensational. Heavy silk always looks good in a home with this architectural heritage.

But opposite to being of the dead boring 'silk drape' style of home, this place avoids that with a serious dose of modern pieces, art and clean fit outs to the kitchen and bathroom.

I particularly noticed that bath, seeing as bathroom renovations are on the horizon here. V. clever design.

Soft Cloud

Gorgeous houses usually make me dream of packing up and moving there immediately, but when the house is in France, and you can rent it out for holidays, the urge is even more intense!

Any place would do really, given that its in France, but when you're presented with such beauty as that bedroom which looks like sleeping in a soft cloud of linen, or that stunning kitchen, the instinct to pack a case really kicks in.

Hello, Hello

Well hello, hello. Hope everyone is having a lovely start to the weekend. After being down south last week, followed by a whirl wind work trip and more whirl wind work stuff, it's good to be at home having a second Saturday morning coffee.

The boys and I headed down to Albany on the WA south coast. We had one gorgeous hot day, and then it rained. And rained. And rained. But it was still lovely.

Lots of seeing the incredible sites, a couple of long lunches, and a good deal of camera avoidance was had.

Such beautiful scenery down there, thought you might like a squizz.

Love List

There is not one thing about this home that I don't love. But top of the love list would have to be the photography (or maybe the dining setting) (or the bed head) (the marbled lamp) (the leather sling chairs) (or the well stocked bar!).

But seriously, the photography in this place seriously reflects my wish list so well - the abandoned pools that intrigue me so much, the fun and liveliness of Muybridge, dreamy ocean scenes - all some of my faves.

I also love the calm, cool interiors. Understated glamour is defined really well in this home.
