Ethereal and Everyday

I loved these image montages see over at Spitalfields Life this week. The old and the new and the in between.

Ethereal and everyday, in one image. V. clever stuff.

Love List

There is not one thing about this home that I don't love. But top of the love list would have to be the photography (or maybe the dining setting) (or the bed head) (the marbled lamp) (the leather sling chairs) (or the well stocked bar!).

But seriously, the photography in this place seriously reflects my wish list so well - the abandoned pools that intrigue me so much, the fun and liveliness of Muybridge, dreamy ocean scenes - all some of my faves.

I also love the calm, cool interiors. Understated glamour is defined really well in this home.

An Outlet

Skateboarding features pretty big in our house. And here's an outlet that I can really get behind.

I love this idea, and I'm looking forward to seeing this new blog on the block evolve. A clever twist on a proven formula, keep an eye on The Skartorialist.

Cloud Of Smoke

And there the week goes, in a cloud of smoke. Man it's been a busy one, heading all over the place for work, including a six hour return trip for a one and a half hour meeting. Really looking forward to the weekend, and a couple of days off with my boys before school goes back next week.

But as far as clouds of smoke go - I haven't seen anything as cool as these. The brilliant colour set against the natural backdrop just looks amazing.

Finally Be

Hey kids, sorry for the absence. Been a pretty full on time of late. Work is its usual busy pace, but also my youngest man and I have been doing stints at the hospital every second day after a nasty burn accident last weekend. So time has not been my friend of late.

I braved the pool for a swim yesterday, to try and defrag after the week. Man it was cold! I'm going to force myself to have another today before a week of rain sets in.

It seems autumn must finally be here.

I've always loved these evocative images. Picturing these places in their hay day. Middle of summer, full of people, lying in the sun with bottles of coke.

{{Will try and get back on deck this week, and throw a few Diversions your way. Thanks for your patience. jules x}}

Colourful Life

I've been over at 20 x 200 checking out the latest and greatest. And some of the really cool things I found there were these prints from the photographer Eadweard Muybridge.

Back in his time Muybridge was renowned for his experimental photography that pushed the typical boundaries of the day. Today, I think his images still have a magical quality. The photographer was a genius of his time, but also led a very colourful life

How's life with you? Hope there's plenty of colour this weekend. Thanks so much for a lovely week of visits and treats, and extra special thanks to this lovely...

Find It

The calm and stillness of these stunning waterscapes is something I'm going to try and channel this weekend. Could be tricky, but I'm going to have a crack anyway.

What are your plans? Hope if you're trying for some calm, that you find it.

What If

I use Nearmap as part of work quite a lot, and there's nothing I love more than when there is an update to their images. I really like looking at the projects I'm working on and seeing their progression. But I also love looking at the 60's Splendour. Seeing the big old pool in the yard, surrounded by turf and the bushland across the road.

I was thinking today while floating around the pool - "man, what if there was a satellite going over right now!" So when I came inside to do a little online wandering I was instantly attracted to these great aerial photos by Bernhard Lang.  The colours and the action he's captured is wonderful.

I hope you're all having a sensational weekend, and thanks heaps for dropping in this week.

Super special thanks go to these special folk....

A Thousand Words

They say a picture tells a thousand words, well, these felt like they had a novella in each of them.

Gorgeous images of stately homes, royalty and aristocrats from years gone by. The indoor pool at Windsor Castle, Princess Margaret in what looks like a road side cafe, and the unmistakable style of Dali.

Such special images and what a treat to explore them.
