Lovely All Round

Usually when trawling for interior porn {hopefully the spam-o-dometer doesn't go through the roof due to that word}, children's spaces aren't on my main radar. But this home got me in with the children's rooms. Especially that lovely little hidey hole in the cupboard. What a dream space that would be for a young one. I like the way the children's spaces aren't totally juvenile, or, trying to be too cool for school.

Apart from that, the lovely balcony space is gorgeous for an inner city home. I imagine the parent/s in this home enjoy a fair bit of time out there while the young are otherwise entertained in loft cupboards and what-not.

And that kitchen is fabulous also. I want a dear friend to own this place so I can bunker down at that table with a bottle of wine for a good long while.

This home is lovely all round.

Authentically Clever

This welcoming family home is full of clever little ideas. From the built in bed with storage underneath to the superb hat shade, I love them all.

Mixed with a life full of personal treasures, these clever little ideas manage to avoid looking try hard.

That makes this place authentically clever!

A Story

Now, here's a story. Many, many moons ago I was a young slip of a thing who went off to play her cello in America for a year. I stayed with a lovely family and got to see and do some pretty amazing things.

After returning to Oz, I got caught up in final high school years and boyfriends, and part time jobs and first cars {as you do}, and sadly lost touch with these great people.

I tried from time to time over the years to look for signs of them in the old town where we lived, but with no luck. And then one fine day, thanks to Anne Sage and a lovely post that she did, I stumbled over Reed.

Reed Davis was my host brother all those years ago, and what a big brother he was. Back then he was already a very talented photographer, and professional fun maker. Oh, the things we did. Music videos, cooking, photo sessions in the lounge room most weekends. It was a ball of fun.

So I was not surpised to find out through reconnecting with him that photography had become his profession, and a really stellar one at that. To say I'm thrilled to be back in touch with my second family again is a complete understatement. And to say that Reed is a good photographer is one too.

The boy is brilliant. Seriously. The way he seems to capture light and make it sit exactly where it should be sitting is genius.

You seriously should get aquainted with his work. I've been thrilled to have a chance to.

{{And if you ever see a fondue set and a girl with a crazy hair do appearing in his portfolio, please do tell, 'cause there will be consequences! And you know what I'm talking about Reed! : ) }}

Authentically Cool

So much that's ticking boxes for me with this place. The black wallpaper and beige sofa mixed with the black shell eames and timber rocker are making me very happy.

It feels like a really authentically cool place, which is always a winner. Collected bed linens, holiday mementos and old timber pieces. Nothing beats it.

Have also noticed this place on the back page "next issue" sneak peek in the current Real Living. Looking forward to reading about the family that lives here!

Phwoar

This place has really distracted me this week. To the point that I still posted it, even with people in the shot. Do you have weird things like that if you're a blogger?

For some reason I don't like my interiors and architecture cluttered with humans. Strange, I know, but there you have it.

But this place, I just had to show you. People and all. As the mother of two increasingly bigger and louder boys, I instantly had home envy. This place would be brilliant. To top that off, loads of concrete and vintage timber. My kind of phwoar.

That concrete barrel vault ceiling stole the show. If only it was a common occurrence here in Oz. My real estate idyll would be found.

Bedouin Weekend

Here are a few pics from my amazing weekend away to the "Bedouin Clay Pans of Carnarvon". I have to say, it was one of the most incredible times I've ever had.

My gorgeous friend and a band of her neighbours put together this make believe little oasis, complete with pet goats, in the Aussie desert and brought together around 50 wonderful women. We were brain storming some fund raising ideas to raise capital for the purchase of a helicopter for medical evacuations for the area. My gorgeous friend sadly lost her teenage son to a tragic motorbike accident while mustering sheep on the station about a year and a half ago. This tragedy highlighted the desperate need for this type of service in her region.

Apart from brain storming we did a great deal of laughing, lounging, feasting, bubbles consuming, chatting with old friends, power walking over the cracked clay and enjoying the company of some incredibly strong and gutsy women. Into the night a fire dancer with lit torches performed for us under the wide outback sky. We went to sleep under the stars, and were ever so greatful that we were there.

For now we've come away with pink painted work boots, some pretty out there costumes, a bunch of amazing memories, and a drive to get this thing rolling and steaming ahead to reality.
