Play Up

Seeing this place made me extremely grateful. I've been struggling with the level of 70's gold trim in my bedroom, but after seeing this, I'm feeling a lot more comfortable with it.

I've always loved gold, but there's gold and then there's well the other kind. But I think the trick is, no matter which type you have, is play up to it. Match it with style and glamour and let it shine.

Old Love New Love

Gold velvet = old love. White foil closet doors = new love.

Golden

I'm having golden fun playing over at the lovely blog 10 Rooms today, please do come and visit. Anne-Marie's blog is all kinds of fabulous, if you don't know it, you should!

Deservedly

I'm particularly loving the blue and green hues that this place is showing off. But with it's zebra skin, gilded Italian tole, cream vintage tolix and lovely art and books galore, it seems showing off comes naturally. Deservedly so.

Quite

I'm quite a sucker for metallics, of any kind. So I really loved this creation by Bryn Alexandra mixing my favourite tones of black, silver, grey and a dose of white with some seriously cool metallic touches.

Particularly like the gold leaf finish on the timber frame of that vintage chair.

Jewel In The Desert

How is this for a jewel in the desert?

This modern home has a touch of old style glamour, well more than a touch. I love the concrete block work around the perimeter of the pool deck, which is cleverly tucked under the eaves of the house.

But the slightly harder to miss glamour, the mega-watt gold shimmer, is something else isn't it. Reminds me of a pair of gold aviators.

Shiny Days and Birthdays

Well it's nearly that time of year again to indulge in all things shiny (I'm sure that's the unofficial purpose of NYE, and I'm sticking to it!), and these images are my kind of shiny. But before I get to that, there's another little celebration to acknowledge.

The Diversion Project turned 1 a couple of days ago, and in true third child form, I totally missed it! When this little project started all those days ago I would never have dreamed that it would turn into the blog it is today. (OK, well today, it is a little bit on the lonely side, but I have one more beach holiday location to get to and then I'm done. Promise)

Thanks to all for making this become something that is really so special to me, and I hope you've enjoyed the ride so far.

I trust everyone had a lovely Christmas and I wish you all a happy, healthy and inspiring year ahead!

Pique My Interest

Some furnishings really tip the glamour balance, and these pieces I found at Anna Casa, tip it right off the charts.

That crystal chain link light and the silver and Murano glass wall sconce really pique my interest, but more so, I long to see a home that has a gold mirror and chocolate silk sofa!

Really Feeling

Love at first sight it was. You know I'm going to say something about concrete right. Well that's it, said it. You know how I feel on that one.

But here we are again with that light pendant I've been stalking for several months now. Originally fell in love with it back here, and then we saw it again in all its triple glory form here. Has anyone ever stumbled across the designer of these?

But apart from those two givens I am really feeling the timber lining boards in the ceiling and that huge mosh pit of a lounging area off the kitchen with the bottle lamps. With a bevy of cushions, a ledge for the wine glass and a view to the garden, I could really move in there.
