Beside That

This place is the stuff that my beach house dreams are made of. I love the casual feel of this NZ bach.

A simply clad structure it still contains all I'd ever want. A few modern classics, a bit of colour - but not the kind that blinds you, large windows and doors open for the breeze and the salt smell to come in, and all surrounded by tough as guts lawn. Perfect for the ad hoc clothes line, washing down people and things and lazing around on.

But that last picture is probably the most simple but easy way to pin point the beach house for me - old vintage chair as a make shift bedside, and beside that, summer after summer's books. Perfect.

Must Languish

This whole place has a lovely relaxed feel to it but that bedroom particularly just screams holiday to me. The people who are lucky enough to live here must languish in that room. The way the sun comes in I could very easily spend a few afternoon hours reading and kipping.

But the other thing that really sold this place for me was the antique doors in the bedroom. I have no idea what's behind them - closet or ensuite most likely. But what ever it is, it has one v. grand entrance.

Pure Style

The French have it in spades don't they. When I say "it", I mean "It".

This integral sense of style that rarely puts a foot wrong. From modern to traditional, and all the parts in between, they put up the most amazing interpretations.

This amazing fit out of the Veuve Clicquot hotel in Reims blew my mind. The hall of mirrors (and we know the French do that well don't we), the graduated stair runner and the jaw dropping crystal. But by far my favourite detail is the black mosaics in the bathroom simply, but so perfectly, teamed with  classic gold fittings. Pure style.

Inspiration Came My Way

Inspiration came my way this morning via the v.cool Jennifer of Odette New York. If you haven't checked out her blog or her gorgeous jewellery before, you seriously have to.

Jennifer is currently by the sea, and I'm dying to be the same. I live but minutes from the sea, but Jennifer's images reminded me of the joys of summer living by the sea...late afternoons, shells, new nail polish.

Oh summer, please come soon.

Are We Up For It

Are we up for a bit of Mykonos gorgeousness? I know I am. It has been so coldy cold, and rainy and miserable, and, and.. yeah, I'm not loving winter. So yes, a little mental vacation to a coastal idyll with white washed walls and amazing local stone work is definitely in order.

And it reminded me of one of my fave songs too...
