Something Similar

I really love a look in people's homes that don't seem like they've been styled within an inch of insanity, and this place is one.

Such a great, warm, vintagey family space. And that bathroom is providing me with a few ideas for our up-coming bathroom renovation. I've been pondering the storage options, and seeing that pigeon hole shelf has made me wonder if I couldn't do something similar with a few pieces I have.

And I do love a subway tile. I had ruled them out, because after all my 15 yr old son is doing this bathroom renovation (school project) and I want to go with a tile that is forgiving of a novice tiler, but they're hard to beat for style aren't they.

Ad Infinitum

Sorry for my absence last week, the week got away from me. This week is threatening to do the same, but let's give it a go.

In my attempt to catch my breath this weekend I did a little zen like surfing for beautiful spaces and this one caught my eye. I've always had a thing for loft spaces and converted industrial spaces. One of my first places I lived in after moving out of home was an old shop in a teeny tiny little country town. It was bliss. The whole shop front, with double bay windows, was my living area. I kept potted trees and moved the furniture around ad infinitum.

This cozy big space brought back memories of that home with its plethora of vintage. A home after my own heart.

Often Times

Studio spaces are often times just as interesting as someones home. After all, they probably spend more hours there than they do in their apartment.

I loved the moody wooden vintage feel of this space and the plants growing toward the light. Cool space and seriously cute pooch.

A View

As the days are getting shorter here, I'm trying to hang on to summer with both hands. Sneaking in a swim most nights after work, even though my mind is telling me its too cold, cooking everything I can on the BBQ and searching for the perfect beach house.

This place ticks a lot of boxes from the cerulean blue to the vintage chairs with a view of the sea.

Cool Links

This place shot onto my radar this weekend via some very cool links from Apartment Therapy. The artwork above the dining table featured in the same post.  I really loved the neutral B + W scheme matched with a solid dose of timber and the light smattering of vintage throughout the home.

Oh, and I'd seriously love that bedhead and martini sign in my place. Such a great look.

And thanks again A.T!

Cosseting Comfort

It's funny how you can have an opinion firmly set on something, and then all of a sudden one image can turn that opinion on its head.

I have to put my hand up and admit to not being a fan of the painted chevron floor craze, but this place is different. Somehow the industrial and vintage feel gives the treatment a bit more street cred, and it feels right.

Apart from that little burst of enlightenment, I'm loving the mix of timber and concrete, and the balance between industrial cool and cosseting comfort.

Little Piece

Look at this stunning little piece of Brooklyn I spotted while catching up on things at the NY Times. I love the soft colours, vintage goodness and quirky collections.
