Oh So Far

Just when I think I couldn't possibly find any more homes to go into my top 10 of fave spaces, something like this comes along.

White upon white washed walls {but showing through the rustic brick finish below}, stunning country views, gorgeous shots of colour, some vintage, and a timber clad sanctuary.

I also love the simple framework of the house. A gorgeous big white box, but made up of the classic white washed brick and steel, it is oh so far from a modern generic sugar cube.

Gorgeous Material

So you know concrete and timber are a given with me, but have you gleaned yet how much I admire and adore corten steel?

We use it a lot in landscape architecture for art work, structures and signage, but this residential application is seriously making me wonder how I can fit this gorgeous material into my nirvana of materials at the 60's splendour.I have concrete - check, timber- check, painted white brick - check. But sadly, no corten.

I do however love the injection of it in the garden space here, in the garden beds and as a sexy weathered skin to the pool. Filing this away for the time in twenty years when the interior of the 60's splendour is finished and I then turn my attention to the garden. Perhaps a fire pit area is on the cards.

If You Ever

Ever been stuck for inspiration for how to kit out your French chalet with a killer view of Mont Blanc?

I know, it's a real kicker isn't it. Personally, I don't know how I ever managed to get through it.

Well if you ever find yourself stuck in that predicament, this is one v.cool option. Smother that thing in timber, add in some fur, and the master stroke - some Hermès orange dining chairs.

And then if you're still stuck, call me over for a visit and we'll nut it out together.

Heaven Naturally

This weekend was so cold I was frozen, literally. Could not bring myself to move (further than 2 metres away from the fire that is!).

So this gorgeous white washed, sun bathed slice of heaven naturally caught my eye.

And yes, to all my mates in the northern hemisphere, I am completely aware that I sound pathetic - it doesn't even snow here! But cold is relevant right?

Welcomes In

This home has some really lovely things going on. The lofty ceilings of the living area painted out in all white that welcomes in the colour and detail below is brilliant. And did you notice the outdoor terrace (a.k.a. patch of paradise), so beautifully treated with the canopy and rug.

Of all the loveliness that abounds though I think the bedroom caught my eye the most with the paper behind the bed and the lovely detail to the curtains. All round good sort this one.

Juicy Details Needed

This home is the cause of some serious light envy. Those matt black pendants with the gold lining are feeding very nicely into my gold + black phase at the moment.

If anyone knows who the source of those pendants are, please fill us in on the juicy details. I also have a rather soft spot for the sconces in the hallway and an even softer one for the gold pendant in the sitting room.

But of course a house is not made by lights alone - I love the touch of violet in the upholstery....and a giant picture of Madonna in the kitchen?! Well, that would almost make me want to cook. Almost.

Clean And Casual

I know the title probably sounds like something you'd read in an online dating profile, but fear not, it only refers to this beautifully put together aussie house.

Clean lines, casual elegance and pared back surfaces. An effortless look that suits Oz so well.
