Look Is Done

 

Who knew that wallpaper ripped off the wall could look so good? If I was this home owner I would've stopped there too. What a rotten job it is pasting all that gloop on and scrapping the wallpaper off like peeling skin.

 

I love the parchment brown and rough look. Add in crumply linen bedding, and the look is done.

 

Now I am eyeing off some particularly fine vinyl paper right in front of me! Could be worth a shot.

Come Clean

I have to come clean. I'm not a big wallpaper fan. There's something about the permanence of it that scares the bejeesus out of me.

I know it's not permanent permanent, but it's certainly a good handful of steps more than cracking open a paint tin to make a change.

But this one is really doing it for me. And it's floral. Even more of a surprise. The only papers I've come close to are Moroccan inspired/Greek key/Broadhurst types (oh, and I'm also partial to a spot of caviar too).

Perhaps I'm softening, or perhaps it just looks cool.

I think it is a really nice addition to the overall white and super clean Scandinavian look going on here. It really brings the soul.

Authentically Cool

So much that's ticking boxes for me with this place. The black wallpaper and beige sofa mixed with the black shell eames and timber rocker are making me very happy.

It feels like a really authentically cool place, which is always a winner. Collected bed linens, holiday mementos and old timber pieces. Nothing beats it.

Have also noticed this place on the back page "next issue" sneak peek in the current Real Living. Looking forward to reading about the family that lives here!

Hour Or Two

Oh Sunday, and all it's glories. What a fabulous day it is. I hope to sneak in an hour or two today with the papers. What about you?

Repeat Steps

All white is a pretty safe bet. You're inevitably going to get a classically good looking space.

But a great way to inject some personality into a space like this is this idea above. 1. Pick a favourite paper, 2. pick a defined space {especially one that encroaches into the room like this island bench} and 3. go for it.

Then when you're sick of it, repeat steps 1 to 3.

Art Of Mastering

The way this home walks the tight rope between classic and modern is just stunning. It's a struggle I constantly have, between wanting a gorgeous old home with panelling and classic architectural goodies, and my deep-seated love of modern contemporary.

I think they call the art of mastering that struggle, "cake and eating it''. One day.

More Certain

Is there any other mix that is more certain to look sensational, than black, grey + white. I think not.

Case in pont this brilliant home above. I just love the bathroom set up and the hallway and the striped wallpaper in the office.
