Ethereal and Everyday

I loved these image montages see over at Spitalfields Life this week. The old and the new and the in between.

Ethereal and everyday, in one image. V. clever stuff.

Parted With

This place is definitely on my must see list next time I'm in London. Ohhhh the postage fees that will be parted with.

But, for those travelling from London to France, one little tip is take as much as you can to France with you and post it home from there. Ask for a boite rouge {red box} and fill 'em up. So much cheaper than posting from the UK, and really quick and reliable. My local post office recognised me after the third day, and when I walked through the door, "boite rouge madame?"

Beaming

I was digging charcoal beams the other week, but after this, black is in front by a nose.

A nose, and a study should I say. Love that desk and the map of London above.

Mildly Thrilling

Have to admit, I've never lived in a white house, but I feel quite sure that one day I'll get there. When I mature.

I love places that on the surface look to be treading a safe path, but when you stop to look closely, there's a lot of lovely little things going on. Little things that shake up what seems {on paper} to be a quiet little home, more than a bowl full of keys at a cocktail party.

What do you see that tickles your fancy?

Quiet White

Happy, happy weekend to one and all. I'm feeling a bit puffed really. Crazy work week (again!), this little housing boom that is festering is keeping our practice well and truly in pedal to the metal mode.

If only my office had a touch of this divine white quietness about it. I'd get into to the office of a morning and instead of instantly setting my hair on fire, I'd sit back in a squishy chair, look around at all my lovely colleagues and ask ''How's the serenity?"

{sorry for all the non-Aussie's, I am making no sense. But if you ever get to pick up a copy of the Aussie DVD 'The Castle' - please do. I'll even translate for you}

A big wave and blown kiss to the new kids that have swung by this little neck of the woods this week, and to my lovely new mates that are following. Thanks so much for coming by, hope you enjoy the ride.

My Cup Of Tea

This pad is really my cup of tea. Love the oversized art work and vintage signage, the splashes of glamour, and the collection of chairs at the dining table.

What I really love most though is the outdoor fireplace. I have a bbq pit kind of thing-a-my-jig at my place, and it's great to sit around at night, but I think when I get to renovating this place, my thing-a-my-jig will get an upgrade along these lines.

Concrete & Crystal

Concrete & crystal, a pairing of words that bring me happy thoughts. Similar to Dolce & Gabbana, strawberries & cream and single & rich.

This home combines those two lovely things along with some smashing steel in the form of vintage lockers, tolix charis and scaffolding style table. Add a dollop of gorgeous wallpaper, and a Smeg the colour of thickened cream and touches of prettiness folded in with a light hand.

And, I'm in love.

Lightness Of Being

This gorgeous home is doing all the fabulous things with colour that I'm really switching on to of late. It isn't a home of all white walls (although there are many), some are a soft grey and the entry there is a light duck egg blue.

The lightness of touch with colour is the master stroke. It makes each piece a vivid part of the fabric of the home.

And that Saarinen Tulip table is making me stare!
