A View

 

As the days are getting shorter here, I'm trying to hang on to summer with both hands. Sneaking in a swim most nights after work, even though my mind is telling me its too cold, cooking everything I can on the BBQ and searching for the perfect beach house.

 

This place ticks a lot of boxes from the cerulean blue to the vintage chairs with a view of the sea.

Hello, Hello

 

Well hello, hello. Hope everyone is having a lovely start to the weekend. After being down south last week, followed by a whirl wind work trip and more whirl wind work stuff, it's good to be at home having a second Saturday morning coffee.

 

The boys and I headed down to Albany on the WA south coast. We had one gorgeous hot day, and then it rained. And rained. And rained. But it was still lovely.

 

Lots of seeing the incredible sites, a couple of long lunches, and a good deal of camera avoidance was had.

 

Such beautiful scenery down there, thought you might like a squizz.

Absolutely Need

I know I'm not doing myself any favours drooling over images like this in the middle of winter. But what can I say, sometimes you just absolutely need a dose of white wash and mosquito nets to start off the week.

Friday Affliction

Wishing to escape is a typical Friday affliction right? It's not just me is it?

This place hasn't helped calm the flight response this morning. Imagine the peace there must be at this amazing little coastal shack in Uruguay.

So simple and so enticing.

On The Horizon

What would you do if you had a view like that. I like to think that I'd try and achieve what these people have - let the view be king.

Here it's not only the sea view that has been captured beautifully, but the sky as well, the view to infinity. Equally beautiful.

The clean fit out and vast glass means that the views are the focus here. But the bronze dog sculpture is a great little detail on the horizon.

Follow The Sun

Good morning, good morning. Slow start here this Sunday morning, but I guess that's what they're really for.

Last night it rained and rained and then rained some more. I was expecting it, you know, seeing how it's autumn here and all, but it was a little sad. No more summer, no more swimming.

So this little clip, the latest song by the brilliant Xavier Rudd, struck a chord this morning.

Beside That

This place is the stuff that my beach house dreams are made of. I love the casual feel of this NZ bach.

A simply clad structure it still contains all I'd ever want. A few modern classics, a bit of colour - but not the kind that blinds you, large windows and doors open for the breeze and the salt smell to come in, and all surrounded by tough as guts lawn. Perfect for the ad hoc clothes line, washing down people and things and lazing around on.

But that last picture is probably the most simple but easy way to pin point the beach house for me - old vintage chair as a make shift bedside, and beside that, summer after summer's books. Perfect.

Any Day

Love the grandiose drapes in this bedroom, they make such a cool definition of space. All the beach side relaxed coolness of this house appealed to me.

But I'm really wishing all the cane was mine! That big flat tray in the living room is something else, and the big open weave basket on top of the wardrobe could come live with me any day.

I've been a bit basket obsessed of late, still trying to find something to cover my safe. One day I'll find it.
