Splendiforous

Some people are blessed with many talents aren't they? These amazing works by Matthew Cusick clearly demonstrate one such person.

Apart from his artistic creativity, imagination and skill - how about the patience of a saint! Again, a talent I'm severely lacking. The hours that have gone into these works must be staggering, but what a pay off. {click on the images to view in detail}

I hope you're all having a splendiforous weekend, and thanks heaps for dropping in this week!

Happy Mothers Day to all the mums out there, hope it's a lovely day.

Super special thanks this week go these awesome people...

Follow The Sun

Good morning, good morning. Slow start here this Sunday morning, but I guess that's what they're really for.
Last night it rained and rained and then rained some more. I was expecting it, you know, seeing how it's autumn here and all, but it was a little sad. No more summer, no more swimming.
So this little clip, the latest song by the brilliant Xavier Rudd, struck a chord this morning.

Hope everyone is having a brilliant weekend and thanks so much, as always, for your support of the Project this week.

And special thanks goes to the lovely....

This Morning

Sorry I'm so late today. Event full weekend so far. A lovely long day trip to the country with some mates followed by an evening of eerie quiet, smoke and flashing lights. Coming home late from the country I found that the bush across the road from the Splendour had been on fire all afternoon. Road blocks were set up, and I had to ditch the car and walk home. I found my old border collie sitting by the pool watching down the drive waiting for me. Poor old fella, must have been quite an afternoon for him. There were fire trucks driving around till late in the night and every now and then you could hear a tree fall.

So it's been a slow morning, mostly pottering around Etsy, and trying to curb the buy now impulse. Internal chant something along the lines of {{must save for new roof, must save for new roof, must save for new roof}} on loop in my brain. But I thought I'd share a few of this morning's faves. Click on the images to go to the store.

Hope you're having a less event full weekend and possibly some serious relaxation or serious fun and games - whatever takes your fancy. Super special thanks this week goes to.......

Thanks Jo!

Outdoorsy

So, how was every one's week? Brilliant, I hope. I had a lovely catch up with a pack of country mates. Sitting outside in the garden here at the Splendour, swimming and generally being ''outdoorsy".

Just getting ready really for Australia Day next week. One can never have too much training for that.

Hope you all have a super splendid weekend and thanks for all the hi's, hello's and words during the week. You're tops.

Migrating

Guess what I've just ordered for the 60's Splendour???
Sadly no, not killer vintage steel chairs or a budgie smuggler wearing pool boy. Disappointing, I know.

But that swan had my name on it from the minute I saw it. Doubt she'll make it before Christmas, but you never know. I'm sure she's going to love migrating south.

Hope everyone is having a really lovely weekend, and many thanks to this lovely chick...

Rolling

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. I'm struggling to keep the renovating roller coaster rolling. Haven't achieved a lot this weekend, except someone came to install air conditioning, which is about to come in very handy!

Thanks so much for popping in this week, it's a real treat that you do. And big thanks to these two lovely girls for always giving me a smile...

To Be Free

Just popping in quickly to thank everyone for traipsing through here of late. I feel bad that I'm not returning the love around the ether as much as usual these days {{not that I was ever so brilliant at that!}}, but I've given into the idea that there is only so much one two handed working mother can do in the two short weeks leading up to a house move.

Man, I am doing a MASSIVE declutter and it is so liberating. Magazines that have moved house with me at least twice are no longer, even some of the furniture that I felt fill my heart with joy when I unearthed it in the back of some grimy second hand is getting the cut too.
I wonder if I'm taking things too far, but, for as long as I smile when I ditch something, I'm going to keep going.

Thanks for not ditching me and being patient while I get things sorted. Moving day is October 4th, and until then its time for me to keep powering on.

Time To Turn

These beautiful vintage kilims available from Loom are really enablers in disguise. They've distracted me nicely from the overpowering stack of empty cardboard boxes in my living room. If I keep finding gorgeous things for the new house, there will be little time to turn my attention to the task of the hour.

Suits me.

Thanks so much for the drive by's, drop in's and shout out's this week. I feel bad that I really haven't had my eye on the flow to thank everyone that I should, so please, if you share a Diversion or two do let me know so I can thank you properly.

But one late thank you I have caught is to the ever so wonderful...

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

For Savouring

I really liked this v. cool day bed idea. Is there nothing that you can't do with a pallet these days? But it does look good doesn't it. The steel pipe and flange sides are a good look. Go here for a bit of weekend DIY action.

{{But one word of advice, I would suggest some cross bracing of these babies as well as the bolt together idea shown in the how to. Or maybe even a few threaded rods through both pallets - end to end. Yeah, OK sorry, will take my work hat off now and stop directing ppl how to build!}}

Thanks all so much for savouring a Diversion or two, and big time thanks to this lovely lot.....

Lived It

You know, I was once (and perhaps still am at times) a geek-a-fied high school girl who walked to the local YMCA two nights a week after school to play badminton with my best mate. Lived it, loved it.

So there was a twinge of recognition, a spark of solidarity, when I locked eyes on these shuttlecock pieces. I mean, does it get cooler. Not much. Take a look at Mirit Weinstock.

Hope every one's had a brilliant week and thanks as always for popping in, really love that you do.

And extra special thanks this week to .....

and belated thanks to

{{and no thanks what-so-ever goes to blogger for messing with the posting page again and now making it almost impossible to post. If this page stays totally munted there may be very few Diversions this week. Truly testing my saint like patience it is!}}

Feet Up

Go ahead, put your feet up this weekend. Kick back and relax why don't ya. Hope all you kids up north have a fun 4th outing, and to all my mates down south, hope you're staying warm!

Thanks so much for partaking of the diversionary delights this week, and extra special thanks to these lovely peeps....

I Shall Be

Yay for the weekend, and oh what a week it has been! I have been bank wrangling, but at last I think we're done. In three months time, I shall be moving into a slice of sixties loveliness. Timber framed picture windows, patios, fireplaces with stucco finish, massive old school pool, and wait for it - painted brick.

It's all manner of browns and oranges right now, and will have to slooooowly evolve, as this one has taken some doing (damn WA real estate market!), but, there will be loads of fun to show along the way. First up I think will be replacing orange glass and smashing down the bar. Well, perhaps a little tipple first, then the smashing.

I can be strangely superstitious, so I'm not going to jinx it by showing you pictures now, but come settlement day, will let you in on the deets.

Hoping your weekend is looking something like the v.cool images above, mine is sadly not, I'm sadly lacking on the amazing I've-just-got-back-from-morocco leather work.

But nevertheless thanks so much for popping in this week, and as always a special shout out to these lovely people.....

Ageless Style

A new blog love of mine - Advanced Style. If you haven't seen it, you seriously should. The creator of this genius blog, Ari Seth Cohen, says  "respect your elders and let these ladies and gents teach you a thing or two about living life to the fullest."

From the fabulous images I saw on his blog I couldn't agree more. Apart from the timeless and seriously cool styles that can be found, there are some snippets of wisdom from the people featured. One lady's secret to ageing beautifully is "don't take things too seriously, eat well, and dance often". But one that made me snort out loud was "I don't want to stand out, I just want to dress better than anyone else". Gold! Grab a coffee, or a cocktail, and enjoy a wander through. I did.

Well thanks again for the special treat of dropping in this week; and if I may, a little request. To anyone out there in the ether to send positive real estate vibes my way - with any luck there may be good news ahead. But then again, there may not. So anything that can help tip the balance in my favour would be most appreciated!

Special thanks this week to these very cool kids for sending some Diversionary love my way...

Settle In

I don't know about you, but this place looks just like what I need right now. The country around the gorgeous Amangiri Resort in Canyon Point Utah reminds me of our aussie outback, so I'm sure I'd settle in very nicely, t.y.v.m.

I love how the resort fit out matches that simple rustic palette and calmness. Just sublime.

Well, as always it's been a brilliant treat to have you all head through this week, and super big thanks to these v.cool kids....

Ellen @ ANZU for sending me a beautiful box of the most exquisite stationary and candle, please do go check them out - their Day At The Beach candle is single-handedly saving me from regressing into a post-summer humpf
