Simmer Over

This place is a near perfect recipe don't you think? Stone, timber, charcoal, navy, grey, white and mustard yellow. Folded gently and left to simmer over a slow heat.

The architecture is stunning, there's no escaping that. But the owners have not rested on those laurels alone. They've been pretty clever in their treatment of this building. Sticking to a simple palette right the way through unifies what could have been a dog's breakfast of singular impressive rooms. But with this approach the space is cohesive and all the more impressive for it.

One particular detail I like is how in the vaulted spaces the timber ceilings have been left natural, but in the more intimate spaces they've been painted white. A trick of the eye that makes even the more petite scaled rooms still seem expansive.

Runner

My favourite materials never disappoint me. This home has most of them, natural fibres, concrete and timber. Big tick, tick and tick.

Add in the contemporary styling, the white chairs and a never-out-of-place B + W stripe runner to the mix and its a real winner.

Over The Fence

I love the understated glamour of this home. The grand scale of the sofa, the rugs, the bed, all provide opulence as do the quality of fabrics and timber finishes.

I really admire this look, and anyone who gets to live like this. They say the grass is not always greener over the fence. But you know what, sometimes the sofas are tidier!

I Get Them

I have to admit, I'm generally not that excited by cushions. I mean, I get them, I can see how you can add a whole layer to a room with them, but still I usually just kind of think "yep, OK".

But I really liked these blue and red ones above. I'm quite taken by the blue + red combo.

Dreams Are Made

The white brick, the internal glass walls, the scale and the designer furnishings - the stuff that dreams are made of.

Bare And Creamy

Now this little find is starting my day of v.nicely. I'm loving everything about this room. The stunning wall paper, the bare floors, the creamy panelling and the perfect sofa. I also love the detail on the window treatment. Not so crazy about the swag pelmet, but I love the two tone panels.

Does anyone know any juicy details on the paper?

Pique My Interest

Some furnishings really tip the glamour balance, and these pieces I found at Anna Casa, tip it right off the charts.

That crystal chain link light and the silver and Murano glass wall sconce really pique my interest, but more so, I long to see a home that has a gold mirror and chocolate silk sofa!
