Splendour In December

Hi, just popping in to figuratively empty the letter box and water the plants ever so quickly. How did Christmas treat you? Hope you had a fabulous time with friends and family. My day comprised of swimming, champagning and oystering. Some of my favourite things to do.

Being captive on holidays with no deadlines to meet has been bliss so far. And I've found myself pulling out the camera a lot more than I usually do. So I thought I'd share with you a little snippet of life at the Splendour this December.

Nothing majorly new to report on the renovations front, just minor bits. The slightly out of vertical wall by the pool has been fixed (you can just see it behind the glamorous pool blanket). Next thing is to paint the whole wall charcoal. Oh and the old pergola with roman columns at the back of the house has come down to make way for my favourite relaxation spot on the bubble sofa (with some bubbles of course!), and the two old kerosene heaters have been ripped out as well. The fire place in the lounge room is now resplendent with just its copper trim (which sadly still needs a clean, but oh well, it's holiday time). For a look at some vague 'befores', go here. Seems weird calling them 'befores' when we're only taking photos of 'interims'.

As you can see the days are busy by the pool, watching Xmas stocking DVDs when it is too hot to swim, unearthing prints that need to be framed and enjoying a few quiet moments in the house when they present themselves.

Hope the quiet moments are finding you too over the holidays!

Jibba Jabba

As you may be able to tell, life is getting hectic and there are far too many Diversions to deal with at the moment, so I'm going to "Quit yo jibba jabba" and sign off for the year.

Thanks so very very much for helping make this a great year for The Diversion Project. Next year will hopefully bring a new look to the blog and a few little changes, but nothing drastic. So be warned web designers, I'll be hitting on you come January (or maybe February!).

I'm heading off in January to our fave beach house, so until we get back on deck I will line up a few Diversionary treats to roll out tumblr style, just in case you need some inspiration.

I hope everyone has a sensational Christmas and a very happy holiday. Stay safe and be well.

Attractive Recipe

Speaking of relaxation....this looks like a sensational destination for that!

I've always had a bit of a log cabin idyll in my head. The way this place has been put together is right on the money.

Modern comfort, stylish lighting and a solid dose of black are a rather attractive recipe.

Bloody Oath

I'm tired. This time of year is relentless isn't it. Project deadlines, contracts to write, birthday parties, drinks with friends, lunches, presents. A lot to do. A lot of great stuff to do. And then the inane ephemera that really is boring, but always raises it's ugly head for attention, creeps in there too.

Well, I think it's time to relax. Bloody oath I do. And ephemera be warned, once I've decided to relax, nothing better get in my way.

Hope you're having a chance for a bit of relaxation this weekend, involving all of the best best of your fave things. Thanks so much for stopping in. Seriously, thank you.

And big huge thanks to the lovely...

Packing A Punch

The design in this home struck me as incredibly strong and incredibly feminine all at the same time.

We know that those two things are not mutually exclusive right, but wow, it is impressive to see don't you think?

From the curated glass ware to the pendant in the dining room, everything is unabashedly feminine but definitely packing a punch. Bravo.

Insanely Good

The quiet loveliness of this place did not go un-noticed by me, despite my knee-jerk concrete oggling.

The restrained palette not only in materials, but in colour choice, furnishings and art really present a united front.

The injection of that soft green into the main bedroom really gives the grey a lift. And well, that orange with the koi mural - just insanely good.
