Around The Traps

Since I scored a bargain set of six chapel chairs the other week I've been noticing them around the traps. I spotted that top photo over at Kerry's place, A Tranquil Townhouse where she posted it from another fave blog, 16 House.

And then going through my image archives I noticed these lovely ones painted a soft shade of grey from Paul Massey. The chairs in the Massey images are the exact same shape and form as mine which certainly helps the imagination to fire up. Those images really made my day because {please don't send me hate mail, I KNOW the whole painting vs. timber argument, and believe me, I have personally stripped back a bevy of painted timber in the past} but I've kinda been toying with the idea of painting them. Although that's all pie in the sky right now because it's waiting on getting a bigger table, which in turn is waiting on getting a bigger house, which....you get the picture.

Painting option ideas thus far - natural timber/white feet, black seat & back/natural legs, kelly green, or gorgeous grey as above. What's your take on the timber vs. paint argument?

They're great! I'm not familiar with the style - where have I been?
My take on the paint vs not paint is "each to their own". Timber is great, but sometimes it's too much.
It will be interesting to see what you decide :)

I think you should paint them if that's what will sit best with the table when you get it...but I'm really not fond of that whole sock thing on chairs. I think it's a trend that will grow tired quickly...and you're such a stylish girl bloss...you don't need that gimmick:) But maybe I'm a bit old fashioned!!

Isn't that they way...you notice them all over now! Great chairs. I'd go with what suits the surrounds best.

Hope your weekend has been good to you hon,

Hi, I've been lurking and decided to comment on this 'cos I often feel that dilemma. I reckon paint the chairs because sometimes a lot of timber is too much timber. But, if the table is painted then I would go with natural chairs.

Looking forward to seeing all these finds come together, Jules :) They are your chairs, so do what you like without feeling guilty! I am loving that paint-dipped style right now, so i may go with white feet..

I don't think there's any reason why you can't mix timber and paint. I love the natural wood on the table but you can paint the chairs and really add some character to the scene. I can't wait to see what you decide to do, Jules!

I like my timber natural, but I have to say the table with the natural top and white legs is a great combination.

I posted on my exact dilemma a few months ago (still haven't finished but have half painted them dark dark almost black). My chapel chairs got woodworm on the way home from the UK so I treated them and then decided to paint them - I also have five unpainted ones which are our every day ones - so I have sat a little on the fence!!

I like paint for the most part but I think it is a personal decision.
