Mildly Thrilling

Have to admit, I've never lived in a white house, but I feel quite sure that one day I'll get there. When I mature.

I love places that on the surface look to be treading a safe path, but when you stop to look closely, there's a lot of lovely little things going on. Little things that shake up what seems {on paper} to be a quiet little home, more than a bowl full of keys at a cocktail party.

What do you see that tickles your fancy?

Pearly Queens

Oh how I love talented people like Ann Carrington, who conceptualise and produce such incredibly gorgeous art as this. I like my incredibly gorgeous art even more so when it is served with a wafer thin slice of irony. This style of button work was made most famous by these types of British pearly queens, yet Ann has used it to create a pearly queen of the HRH variety. Totally brilliant.

And the 2p just there? Safety pins. I kid you not.

If you're as in love with this unique work as much as I am, you can get your mitts on a limited edition print of the beautiful originals.

p.s. while researching Ann's work I found that the Novogratz family known for the show 9 By Design have several of Ann's pieces in their home. So, i guess that's a good thing - they must be kid proof!

Canal House

This dwelling is the epi.tom.E of cool. Love it to bits. Actually I was an easy target, an interiors shoot that has a black leather jacket with pink lining, and I'm on board...they should've charged me by the minute because, you know, I would've paid.

And while we're on the cool - what would you do if you wanted an ensuite pamper pad and had nothing but a closet to spare. Well, of course, you'd turn it into a red plunge bath. Of course you would. I would too, now that i've seen this slice of fabulous.

Back Drop To Nature

Loved the broody backdrop to these lovely clusters of nature, shown off here in a fabulous range of left-of-centre vases.

Brilliant styling personified.

Once Upon A Time...

...There was a little Etsy store called Isabella's Art. In that store they sold awfully clever things, that were made by an awfully clever artist.

One day a fairy princess called jules {work with me} happened upon this magical place, and behold, she was amazed. Such treasures and delights she found!

The fairy princess knew in her heart of heart's what she had to do. Straight away she jumped onto a new Window into a world of make believe and wonder called Blogland to tell everyone throughout the village, near and far, what marvelous treasure she had found.

{{OK, i'm puffed, you get the picture. Run over the hills and far away to here. These shadow puppets are seriously good stuff.}}

And we all lived Happily Ever After. The End.

Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside

Loving the blue painted floors and the open simple style of this beach side pad. But a couple of things that have me wanting more are the little dusty blue side table and the chartreuse patterned rug in the sitting room.

But most of all I like the bed above, it gives me warm happy thoughts. Like when you go to stay at a friend's parents' place and you're in the spare room that never gets used, and you're totally out of sync with sleeping in a bed that small.

But the bed is old and has a little hollow in the centre and the sheets smell like fabric softener and sunshine. And before you know it, you have the best sleep you've had since you were 8.

Collected Curiosities

I find the most interesting thing about collections and displays is what people choose to collect or set on display and what it might tell you about the collector. Old signage, walking canes, pink timber finials, and a clutch of ostrich eggs tell me I like the way this person thinks.

Natural Beauty

The colours in these gorgeous works by Frank Gonzales speak my language, they're the colours of my home.

The exquisite beauty of this work though is the real attraction. The natural beauty that's wrapped up in a package full of vibrancy, colour and movement is genius. I love the almost pixelated style, v.cool indeed.
