Why Is It So?

I'm wondering what it is in the water or the air that makes most nothern europeans have killer style and taste when it comes to interiors. I mean, really?!

Nearly every editorial that comes out of that region is just gorgeous. Why is this so do you think?

Are there some sad little tragic homes that are being held a national secret across the whole region that we don't get to see?!

Oh, and just quietly, I'd give my left pinky for that armchair and raspberry velvet throw.

Images from here.

I like you thought of the few lacklustre houses that no one must see! There's a blog opportunity for someone - Nordic Ordinary.

And I yearn for white slipcovers.

Or maybe Nordic Downright Nasty! Surely not everyone is as impossibly stylish as they seem? Great post, and I'm so with you on the armchair and throw. K xx

Now, you see, this is the kind of interior design/styling that gets me up the morning - images 2, 3, 4, 6 actually made my heart beat faster... Unpretentious design; spaces created for living are what this is all about. It is not about the designer, it's about the client and the life they want to lead. Ours is a service industry, no two ways about it. God, I love this blog.

I'm going to bed, it's been a long day... night night. x

I've thought the exact same thing, they just have this crisp, clear simplicity to their decor, restraint and style all in one.

hold the presses, boxing today, pour tomorrow...got ahead of myself apparently. ha ha

sunny today, hope it is for you too,

Nordic ordinary...ha @ Mise! :) Its true, the Scandinavians seem to always be showing the rest of the world...this is how its done! Must be so shameful to live there and NOT be stylish!

You are so right about this, Jules. I'm voting for lots of free time to hone their interior design skills thanks to cold weather.

If not that, then there's got to be something in the water.

I so agree. European style is so diff than American style and I think it is soo much better. I can't get enough of all the fabulous images online!

beauitiful images - too dusty in Australia to pull this off on a mass scale - maybe we are also too lazy to keep up with all the cleaning required to keep up appearences?

I agree about Nordic style. It must be the light. I don't find that here in Canada in the Winter.

They're really brilliant. I'm married to a Scandinavian but you'd never know it from the looks of our apartment! :)

No really, there are plenty of tragic little homes in northern europe, believe me!

Loving all those white walls and paintwork though, so calming... ahh, I feel better just looking at them!
