Before & After

Thought I'd show you a little project I did last weekend. This old meat safe cupboard has been with me for years. I found it when I was a young bride on the farm, and it was painted...gloss pink and  black. Of course it was.

Back then I stripped it back, not to pristine timber, but left a bit of the ''old'' on the old girl, and replaced the fly wire panels. Fast forward several years and it's been living in our city kitchen as a kind of one stop shop. It holds board games, art stuff for the boys, soooo many pencil cases I can't think how we've accumulated them all, our 3D glasses : ) and well everything else in between.

I decided it was time to tart it up a bit, and so took out the fly wire panels and replaced them with mirror cut to size. And just quietly I'm loving it something sick! I grin every time I walk past it.

ps - the disjointed, elongated pooch in the mirror is Jessie, a gentleman of progressing years that we fell in love with at a dog rescue home a few years ago. He keeps doing a sideways glance at the cupboard every time he walks by, then he realises it's him, not a new furry friend!

that looks super. we too have a cabinet like that (we found it on the back streets of richmond one day on the way to the footy). it too holds all our crap (and yes, 3D movie glasses - why can't we just remember to take the same pair rather than buying new ones). i love the mirror on it, much better than flywire. do you mind if i copy one day. ours was removed from the kitchen as it just overflowed with junk - now it is in our bedroom holding spare blankets. (oh, and thanks for joining my blog. i just put a good architect post up - go take a look).

Yes, it's a better way to hide the junk! Nice job, Jules.

Love the mirror on the doors!

Great to see how successful it was on your make-over....I have been thinking of doing something very similar on some interior doors, seeing your project has helped me have some confidence in my own convictions!!

Thanks for stopping by on my blog and taking the time to comment, really means a lot to an "un-professional" like me x

i love to strip furniture to see what is "underneath" . although i must say, i have someone do it for me.. as i am not sure i would have the patience to do it myself. you have inspired me to try it though... i am sure the end result would be even sweeter.xx pam

Those mirrored doors are inspired! Now if it were dusky pink AND mirrored I'd come and tidy up all those pencil-cases for you myself.

I love the piece, but I don't think it'd have such a flair without your styling!
