Resolute Resolutions

First of all, where oh where did this year go????! I guess I have covered a lot of ground this year career wise, the boys and I have had a great trip, lots of travels around the country side also and fun and games in between....but, it only seems like yesterday that a friend and I were in the pool last NYE fully dressed in our party frocks trying to pull out all our best synchronised swimming moves.

This NYE won't be quite as silly, in fact still not entirely sure what the boys and I will be doing - friends are in all parts of the state tonight. However I did note that Back to the Future is on TV tonight and that's hard to resist for anyone who knows Huey Lewis & The News lyrics by heart!

So all of this Year's End thought has led me to consider what I really want to get done next year. There's more travel, more work, more amazement of kids changing and growing, more friends to connect with, more calm would be good...and in the midst of these thoughts I went out to our workshop to remind my 12 year old that "the day starts with breakfast" and saw these unloved treasures sitting about.

There a many of these sorts of projects waiting for my attention out in the workshop, so this year I resolve to tackle at least one of them! Time isn't on my side these days, like it was when I lived in the country, but surely at least one project is do-able. Even if it's only the lovely little set of nesting side tables with very fine legs that just needs a few coats of paint.

If anyone's out there reading this, I'd love you to keep me honest and drop a line sometime to check on progress!

Lovely

Wow, this is really lovely.
This colour has been really catching my eye all over the place lately, and I'm not an overly 'pink' type of girl. Maybe it's an 'in' colour this year, and I'm only just getting it now.
From here.

Perfect London

During our trip to London and Paris this year we stayed in a Paris Perfect apartment, and was blown away with the quality, location and as you can see at the top right of this page - the view.

Because I was travelling alone with my sons, I wanted somewhere where we could really bunker down for a couple of weeks and enjoy the city. It was a return trip for me to Paris, but the first for the boys - and with that view out our windows, I'm sure they're never going to forget it!

We had less time in London and so went for hotel accommodation instead. Being back in London again reminded me just how much I love the place! I think a return visit very soon is needed (well, when I can erase the memory of the achingly long flight from the Antipodes!!!), and so I've been looking into similar apartment style accommodation for London.

Turns out, Paris Perfect now have London Perfect! What's even more perfect is this gorgeous Kensington pad, just around the corner from where we stayed on our last trip. The location, just down the road from Kensington Gardens, was ideal for us - after a day of shopping or sight seeing the boys could run amok through the vast and lovely park.

OK, looks like accommodation is now sorted. Check. Just need to work out when I might ever have some more accrued annual leave!!

Gorgeous living space, very open and generously proportioned for London digs.

But probably more important - a calm and serene master bedroom to hide in while the kids watch a DVD! I'm sold.

Flickr Triptych

Firstly, a quick disclaimer - I doubt I will be able to post this much once Christmas break is over and I get back to my daily career. But hopefully at least daily.

Secondly, I love the way these three images speak to each other in my Flickr faves.

Snow Baby

This image is a refreshing diversion from the sweltering heat here in Oz.

Flowers of Versailles

These might not be the type of flowers you imagine when the word Versailles is bandied about - I think that is why they appealled to me so much. I caught this little glimpse of these simple pretty flowers in the middle of walking through the grand gardens and they were like a little breath of fresh air.
I'll share more images from our trip to London and Paris this year as time goes by, but this is one of my all time favourites!
