Back Lit

Do you fantasise about a gorgeous loft life like I do? Can be a little overwhelming when faced with this kind of stunning example. Love the raw fit out, keeping the brick, concrete and timber as the core of the place.

But the thing that really knocked me sideways with this place was the lighting design. The back lit cabinetry looks amazing and gives those original features such a soft spotlight of attention. Perfect.

This one is divine. I actually lived in a loft in Melbourne CBD in the mid-late 1990s. It was quite like this one just a huge room with lots of exposed brick. It was a great experience. The garbage trucks and junkies on the doorstep were not so fun,

Hope you are well over there and not near fires? xo

Lighting is so tricky. When it is done right, you notice it. This is beautiful.

Oh what luxury to have so much space! The back lighting makes what could be a very cold space a nice warm cozy one!

Once, in our early 20's, we had the chance to live in something very similar to this. It was waaayyyy out of our price bracket, but we dreamt about it and visited it so many times - the poor real estate agent must have been so annoyed. It look very much like this AND had these amazing lights that lit from the ground along the walls (I'm talking a LONG time ago so it was very new back then). We didn't end up living there - right in the heart of Melbourne in Flinders Lane - but this place reminds me of that.

Oh, the one we liked also had a lift - it's very own lift. Be still my heart .. (-:

Beautiful space and that back lighting is the topping on the cake. I love back lit spaces but it seems like if you don't include it in the design phase, it's hard to add.

What an absolutely beautiful space but you're right - it's the fabulous lighting that makes it!

I always think it would be fun to run and slide in my stocking feet in a home like that.

This place seems to calming and tranquil... when I was young, I really wanted to go to University with my friend, and the two of us wanted to rent a loft together... we ended up going to different Universities, but I would still like to live in a loft! Ahh, you make me dream...
