Vintage Glamour

Love the industrial glamour in this West Hollywood home. The light fixtures alone are amazing!

Mixing industrial vintage with big modern scale makes me seriously pay attention.

Less Than Average

I'm laying low like old ted here. Currently on my third course of antibiotics for a bad throat and sore head that seems to be getting worse not better. Have had a sickening amount of blood taken today to rule out glandular fever and the like.

Contrary to my actions of only taking (begrudgingly!) one day off work this week, I'm trying to remind myself I can't always do it all.

There are some posts set to auto, so do please check back in for a dose of diversion, however I'm taking a little break and will try and catch up with what everyone else has been doing once once I'm back to regular.

BTW, cute sheets! jx

Squishy Bits

No rhyme or reason behind these, no grand story, no poignant link to anything in particular except the rather soft spot I have for French vintage.

Actually it's more than soft, it's bordering on squishy.

The Marrakech Express

Morocco was on my travel itenary once during a trip across Europe that was going to take me down to Spain and Portugal also, but sadly it was cut as time ran out.

Ever since I've always hankered to get there. One day I will get there, but for now, seeing as it's Friday and the horizon opens to all kinds of possibilities on a Friday, let's jump aboard this glamorous Marrakech Express.

Bright White

Completely enamoured with this very feminine bedroom. The white slate, the turquoise, MAN!, the turquoise everywhere in the details, the vintage prints - all fabulous! But I believe the coup d'état  is the armoir with the timber panelling replaced with glass. I always feel sad for gorgeous clothes that get shut away in dark cupboards where no one can see them and admire them as they should be - this is answer!

Loley Shop

These gorgeous sweets are from one of the most fabulous kinds of lolly shop around, the beautiful Etsy vendeuse going by the name of Loley's & Co.

There are baubles, trinkets and sparkly treasures galore. I fell in love with these above, but please do go and take your sweet tooth over for a look around, I'm sure you'll be licking your lips.

Beauty In The Ordinary

Do you know one of the things that makes me most happy - is knowing that people like Paula Arntzen exist in the world. It makes me happy to know that there are people out there in the world who create amazing, gob smacking, adventurous works of brilliance such as these.

These pieces are from some projects that Paula has done involving humble paper and tape. Beauty in the ordinary and a vision beyond the object. This very clever lady designs a number of other things including furniture, bags and vases.

I can exhale, someone has the beautiful stuff covered.

Getaway

One of my dreams is buying a block of land out in the bush somewhere and building a shack with my boys as a weekend project. (I say 'one' because there's also - own a beach house, walk across the Great Wall, show them Africa, to name but a few...you get the drift...)

They were quite young when we left the farm and moved to the City and have only a few memories of me driving tractors and mustering sheep. I'd love to be able to share a little snippet country style life with them, even if it's just going for walks and lazing in the fresh air and listening to nature.

This little shack above caught my eye and stirred up all those thoughts again. Even though this is quite obviously not the Australian bush - it is a little slice of getaway heaven.

Simple, stylish and fun. Man, if I had this little joint, I imagine I would even make plum jam too!

{that little bundle in the bucket tub made me grin all over - my kids used to play with an egg beater like that in the bath too!}

Comfort

Being a single parent with a career that takes up what feels like my whole day every Monday to Friday, I find myself on weekends just aching for comfort and relaxation.

I can appreciate nearly all decorating and design styles, as long as they're visually beautiful, but the homes that I'm really captured by are ones like these above. Where the stylist and photographer have managed to capture the personal warmth and comfort of a home, but still make it look gorgeous.

I can imagine any of these homes in daily life and enjoying them with children and friends. They're not precious, they are real. And real comfort is just where I'm at.
