First Riser

The concrete, wood and brick in this home are a sure bet when it came to grabbing my attention, but the design details of this place really blew my mind.

The scale of the rooms, the seamless details, the sunken reading room and that amazing staircase are seriously stunning. Having the wall act as the first riser of the stairs makes them seem to float like a 3D sculpture. Seriously good.

Just Wow

Loving the colour treatment here. It is blended with a good dose of lovely black, grey and white, so it is really cohesive and looks just stunning.

And that bedroom. Wow.

All Manner Of Things

I'm really enjoying collecting image after image of 60's inspiration for the Splendour. Anything with pitched roofs and floor to ceiling glass is snaffled up very quickly into my inspiration file.

This pad particularly because of the painted textured walls. Not sure if they added the texture, or it was there already, but its given me some ideas. The Splendour has a blobby concrete finish to the fireplace. And man, it is stuck on good. I've whacked it with all manner of things, and that stuff isn't budging.

Next option, paint it. Current plan is my favourite black, not quite as daring as this awesome place. But then, I'm trying to hide it, not make it even more obvious!

I Wish I Was

Love these illustrations by Sophie Grotto - such energy. But mostly I just wish that I was that last chick, having coffee in my favourite city.

Wishing you all a seriously cool weekend, hope all you people in the States had a lovely Thanksgiving too.

And thanks goes to this very lovely chick...

A Thousand Words

They say a picture tells a thousand words, well, these felt like they had a novella in each of them.

Gorgeous images of stately homes, royalty and aristocrats from years gone by. The indoor pool at Windsor Castle, Princess Margaret in what looks like a road side cafe, and the unmistakable style of Dali.

Such special images and what a treat to explore them.

Me. Here. Now.

This place is my definition of paradise for the week.

Seriously, take me, a dozen air freights, some mangoes and some champagne, and drop me here now. In a couple of days, maybe the kids can come for a visit.

Little Push

This home really show cases how to stick to a classic refined look and still spice it up a little. The light fixtures and the art help just give this otherwise staid look a little push into the modern.

And seriously, a little push is all it needs. Anything more and it gets muddled. Brilliantly done.
