Action Someday

Man, I wish my real estate search would turn up something like this fabulous place. As long as it had a yard big enough for boys and dogs, I'd be in heaven.

Those white washed bricks, the original timbers and the light from the picture windows are just part of the equation that pushes my buttons.

But despite this home being on the other side of the world, I found a little take home detail that might just get put into action someday. That inexpensive Ikea floor lamp pimped up with a v.cool shade is seriously good.

Goodness That Deep

Loving the goodness that deep magenta velvet armchairs can bring. Along with a burnished metallic wall finish in a dark bathroom.

To Find Them True

Thought I'd show you a couple of Etsy pick up's I've made this week. The oil landscape above is going to fit in nicely with my little collection I've got going on. I found it in all it's loveliness over at Rat Pack Pack Rat.

But the thing that filled my heart with joy is the vintage embroidered pillow case at the top, which says ''and wake to find them true''. Love it. It's big too, 25" x 25".  That was snapped up at a little vintage portal that my mate Anne Sage put me on to called Copper And Tin.

But just to prove that I don't always get everything I want : ) I just wanted to share one that got away. Because it is entirely lovely. This vintage oil below just made my little heart strings ping. But instead of hitting Add To Favourites, I should have hit Buy Now. Isn't it gorgeous? This little guy was seen at A Design Process.

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend, filled with a nice mix of fun and sleep ins. And that when you eventually awake you find them true.

Masters

These gorgeous restful spaces are from the Studio KO powerhouse. I've shown you some of their work before.

The thing that they never seem to fail to achieve, whether it's a luxe look or something a little more international like this resort above that they're aiming for, is the perfect balance of not too little/not too much.

They're masters of it.

Runner

My favourite materials never disappoint me. This home has most of them, natural fibres, concrete and timber. Big tick, tick and tick.

Add in the contemporary styling, the white chairs and a never-out-of-place B + W stripe runner to the mix and its a real winner.

Home That Goes

I'm sure many of you would have stumbled across the image of that gorgeous dining table somewhere out there in the ether, but I just hope you've seen the rest of the gorgeous home that goes with it.

Never mind searching, because here it is. It belongs to the super talented portrait photographer Emily McCall. Emily's aesthetic and the treasures she has pulled together give her home a huge dose of wow in my book.

Well you know how partial I am to a black wall or two in the bedroom, but it's not just that. The leather, timber and vintage mix is more than a little intoxicating.

And seriously - that Barcelona, would have to be right at the top of all time stunning chairs. Do yourself a favour and pay Emily a visit to see more.

One Of Us

Happy Australia Day to one and all. Hope you've had a brilliant day enjoying yourself in The Lucky Country.

We've done some of the usual - lamb roast for dinner and getting eaten alive by mozzies in the front yard while looking on at the fireworks going off over the tops of the roofs.

I thought today on how we truly are a lucky country, not just because someone tells us so. The trouble and strife that has come our way of late has demonstrated just what Aussies are made of.

And I feel so very lucky to be one of us.

Remind You Where

The clean modern treatment given to this old building has been done to perfection. The almost modular fitted units and fireplace along with the clean lines of the edgy furniture really gives this place a solid foot in the door of contemporary.

But, not to be overshadowed, those terrazzo floors remind you where this place has been and give a beautiful nod to the past.

Projects, Chairs and The Happy Dance

Hope all you kids had a sensational weekend. I know I did. {{Snuck off for a little I'm-not-done-with-the-beach trip}}. I've also ticked off a little project that's been waiting in the wings for a while.

I picked up a frame from an op shop for $8 the other week. Not for the Government Dept. advertising, but because the frame was incredibly well made. Add to the dags-ville frame a little left over black paint, and a gorgeous print from the very talented Emma Leonard, and I'm fully stoked with the outcome. Love it to bits.

OK, so I also promised a run down on some of my eBay loot too. These images are lifted from the auction pages, as I'm still waiting to take delivery on one piece and the others are temporarily ensconced in my workshop until I have figured out what to do with them and/or get my real estate dreams to come true.

  • So, there was a set of six antique chapel chairs {complete with bible holders} for $130 (yep for all 6!).
  • Then there was the brass and lucite coffee table, $3.25 thank you very much.
  • And probably my biggest happy dance was for a Philippe Starck Bubble Club Sofa for a post auction sale of only $200.
Yes, it was a pretty sweet week indeed!
